Join us to celebrate Tet Lunar New Year 2019 - Year of the Pig!

Although may of us may have already had one New Year celebration, it’s time to back it up with the biggest celebration of the Vietnamese calendar. 

Along with our normal a la carte and banquet menus, a selection of traditional celebratory Tet dishes will be available to order on the night, including roasted suckling pig as it simply wouldn’t be a celebration without it. 

To bring blessings and prosperity to us all, we welcome Lion Dancers at 8pm. If you’ve never experienced a Lion Dance get set for noise, colour and moment - it’s not to be missed!

Hosted by Jerry and Paul Diamond from Selector Magazine, guests will enjoy four shared courses fusing influences from Vietnam, along with flavours cues from the cuisines of Thailand and Cambodia

Paul will introduce guests to six carefully selected wines to match the menu and show some innovative  ways to match wine to Asian flavours.

Lunch for Angelica Organics

On Sunday 19th August, the Melbourne food and hospitality community are banding together to support a much-loved small producer who has been doing it tough. 

Tim and DeriAnne run a small organic farm in Glenlyon which supplies Melbourne restaurants and homes with seasonal vegetables and culinary herbs, garlic and heirloom tomatoes.  

The thing that sets Angelica apart and which makes them a much loved supplier for restaurant kitchens is their values of environmentally sound and regenerative farming and food production, leaving a positive legacy for future generations of farmers and eaters to come. 

Following an incredibly difficult growing season, that legacy is now in danger of being stopped in its tracks. 

The 2017/18 season saw the Farm hit with a perfect storm of back-to-back set- backs. Much needed land leasing and crop plantings were significantly delayed, multiple irrigation equipment breakdowns in the middle of summer, threat of being shut down from a neighbour complaint, staffing difficulties, the loss of 50% of our award winning annual garlic crop. On top of this, recent consecutive heavy frosts have depleted yet more crops and have resulted in a hugely touch growing season.

The hospitality community have heard Angelica’s call for help and are banding together. for one lunch only, some of Melbourne’s chefs are coming together for a unique lunch. 

Hosted by Jerry Mai at Annam, lunch will consist of five family style courses. Adam Racina (Pinotta), Nicky Reimer (Bellota), Ben McMenamin (Social Food Project) and Sascha Rust (Copper Pot) will join Jerry for this once-only occasion.

All produce served has been donated from other suppliers local to the Angelica neighbourhood, showing that none of us are doing it alone. Guests will be treated to beef from Warialda Belted Galloway, pork from Bundarra Berkshire and Jonas Farms with seafood from Hiramasa Kingfish suppliers. The menu will also feature items from Tim and Deri’s Angelica Organic Farm so guests can see exactly why we are fighting for them to stay in business.  

This lunch is all about community in the hospitality industry, about our connections and commitment to a sustainable food future for everyone.

Hot Pot Mondays

Join us on Monday evenings throughout winter for a traditional Vietnamese style hot pot.

Hot pot found it's way to Vietnam via China hundreds of years ago. Over time, the Vietnamese version has developed with the distinct flavours of Vietnam and is lighter and fresher than the Chinese version. 

At Annam, we're offering three broths for you to choose from. From the North we have a Hanoi style broth made of pork hock and artichoke. From central Vietnam and the Imperial City of Hue it's a lemongrass and chilli broth and the South is represented with a hot and sour broth similar to that found on the streets of Saigon. There is a shiitake broth for our vegetarian guests and a selection of meats, seafood, tofu, fresh herbs and vegetables and noodles will allow you to make the hot pot your own.

This winter, let us take you on a journey through the regions of Vietnam and warm you up at the same time! 

Limited availability so we recommend that you book via phone (9654 6627) to ensure that you don't miss out. Broth is $25 per hot pot which is enough for 2 - 4 people and includes Szechuan chilli soy and lemongrass sate dipping sauces, add ins will be charged per menu item.

Happy Hour

We're mostly known for our food at Annam but it's one of Melbourne's best kept bar secrets that our happy hour offers some of the best value in town.

Happy hour runs from 5 - 7pm Monday to Friday, with drink specials available at the bar.

Options include beer, a glass of red or white wine  for just $5. We also offer our version of Melbourne's favourite cocktail - the espresso martini - twisted Viet-style at just $9.

We think this is the best value post-work, pre-theatre food and drink offers in Melbourne, but we'll let you be the judge of that.
